A 60-year-old male pedestrian in Saint-Isidore was victim to a tragic accident after having been struck by a vehicle yesterday in the early hours of the morning.
Chateauguay Police responded to the accident scene on St-Regis Road / Highway 207 where the man had reportedly been walking alongside the dark roadway and was struck by a vehicle.
Before the arrival of Emergency services, it was stated that the driver of a pickup truck that was reportedly involved in the accident had himself called 911 and tried to assist the injured man.
The 24-year-old male driver of the vehicle was later transported to hospital and treated for shock.
The victim succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead at Anna Laberge hospital.
It should be noted that road conditions and visibility in that stretch of the 90 km zone, may have been unfavorable at the time of the accident, and in respect to the location of the accident, there aren't any sidewalks along the roadway either.
Rang Saint-Régis/Highway 207 remained closed to traffic until the Sûreté du Québec team finished their investigation later that morning.
