Loblaw Companies Limited to offer $25 'Compensatory' Card to Customers


Come Jan 2018 a $25 gift card/voucher will be made available to Canadians by Loblaw Companies Ltd as a result of their participation in an industry-wide bread price-fixing arrangement.

Having admitted to their involvement in this major grocery related faux pas, they will soon be offering online registration via their website so that customers may receive a compensatory 'gift' grocery card which can be used to purchase items sold in Loblaw grocery stores across Canada.

This online will begin in early January and end in March of 2018.

According to their website, George Weston and Loblaw announced that they have taken action to address role in this "industry-wide price-fixing arrangement involving certain packaged bread products".

They also mention that George Weston and Loblaw Companies Ltd had immediately reported it to the Competition Bureau, and made subsequent employee related changes.

The company expects three million to six million people will register to receive the gift card.
