Châteauguay Police investigators arrested three suspects, aged 32 to 47 years of age- allegedly on charges of break and entering and trafficking.
A police statement alleges that a small ring of thieves have been preying on Golf Courses in the Greater Montreal region.
The arrested individuals were apprehended by authorities soon after removing three Golf Carts from a warehouse at Golf Club International 2000, allegedly after placing them in a truck on April 6th.
Police had reportedly pre-notified the owner that they were already watching the suspects, and an attempt to rob the property could occur.
Golf Club International 2000 in Lacolle, Québec reportedly retrieved their items back the next day, valued at approximately $15,000.
These vehicles are very popular on campgrounds and often cost in the thousands of dollars. The batteries and accessories are also very expensive and are always in high demand.
The popular campground season is beginning in the Monteregie and other regions over the next couple of weeks. These types of Golf Carts are also widely used for travel around campgrounds in addition to Golf courses.
Local Bellevue Golf Club in Lery was also reported to have been burglarized twice, losing approximately 127 golf cart batteries and while incurring more than $ 40,000 damage.
2 of these men were arraigned at Valleyfield Courthouse, and the third man was released on his own recognisance with a promise to appear.
It was also stated in relative Media reports that the Sûreté du Québec was also able to tie-in other active investigations in relation to these arrests.
