Roussillon Police were involved in an approximate 12 Hour Standoff at a Motel in Ville Sainte Catherine yesterday.
A Male who was apparently already known to Police - had barricaded himself into a Ville Sainte Catherine motel room late yesterday afternoon, allegedly after a dispute with the motel’s owner.
The 51 year old was stated to be a ‘tenant’ of the Motel Ste-Catherine, and was said to be depressed and perhaps in possession of 'light' weapons such as knives.
Authorities stated that the male also seemed to be in a state of psychological distress and subsequently refused to cooperate with them.
His reluctance to comply with their requests prompted the creation of a security perimeter around the immediate area of the Motel Ste-Catherine, located at 3000 Boul. Marie-Victorin, in Ville Sainte-Catherine on the South Shore.
Authorities then deemed it necessary to evacuate about a dozen or so proximate homes for several hours.
Officers from the Sûreté du Québec were also called in to assist the Roussillon police in their efforts to negotiate with the suspect.
The individual was finally arrested and sent to Hospital early this morning after a final intervention and apprehension by the Emergency Response Team of the Sûreté du Québec.
No reported injuries were sustained by police during the intervention or by the man involved in this matter.
