Divers resumed searching for the body of a missing man in the Ottawa River at Vaudreuil – Dorion in the Montérégie area this morning.
Two men were snowmobiling on a marked trail last night when they reportedly decided to leave the trail and follow alongside the water.
Tragically, one of the men, stated to be in his mid thirties, broke through the ice and is thought to have drowned.
His companion tried unsuccessfully to save him with a rope. Police had been called to the scene around midnight last night.
A team of Suréte du Québec divers remain at the scene searching the river in hope of retrieving the man's body.
